Members of the Gardening Club were given a very interesting tour of Weasdale Nurseries by Andrew Forsyth who has owned the nursery for over 30 years. Weasdale is one of the highest nurseries in the country, and Andrew explained to us the many challenges of growing trees at altitude and how Weasdale has overcome those challenges.
We were shown just a small fraction of the extensive range of trees grown by Weasdale, and given a detailed description of the process by which trees are packaged prior to being delivered all over the UK. Andrew explained the benefits of selling bare-root trees as opposed to container-grown stock.
It was fascinating to see ‘behind the scenes’ at a busy nursery, and to be given a tour by someone who clearly has a passion for the trees and plants he nurtures at Weasdale.
