General Introduction
This is one of a series of ‘flights’ across the Cumbrian parish of Asby, part of the ‘Westmorland Dales’ extension to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It forms part of a series of videos by members of the Asby History Group which uses Google Earth technology to explore the historic landscape of the parish. This presentation uses and develops the content of a series of educational walks led by Keith Cooper in recent years.
“Great Asby Walk”
In this series of videos, I attempt to offer glimpses of the history of the village of Great Asby (and a little of its surrounding landscape) as we walk around the village, using Google Earth images and photographs taken at ground level. As I say (probably far too often!!) in the commentary, it is not a quick walk – it is deliberately slow-paced. I hope you can adjust to, and enjoy this pace, and do not find it frustrating. The walk is in three parts:
I am aware that there are a number of aspects of this recording which could be improved. To help with this, I would very much welcome your feedback and comments – please email me. ()- Keith Cooper
a) The Three Greyhounds Inn to Dale Green
b) Dale Green to Marble Mill
c) Marble Mill back to The Three Greyhounds (plus a visit to the Parish Church)
