This pew runner was also made from donated money from Dorothy Alderson.
In Kyrgyzstan the nomadic people make felt carpets called Shyrdaks the pattern is made by mixing shapes from different coloured felt squares. Using this idea we took the design from the stained glass window in St Peter’s church.
We made 14 pre-felted squares all the same size and thickness 10cm square. In blue, white, gold, orange, green, red and black. Using patterns from the above window, shapes were cut out and swapped around until we had a symmetrical pattern. This was placed on a blue background then wet felted. The pattern is very similar to the mosaic floor in the church.
