“Butterflies”

Pew Runners - Butterflies

Created August 2011

In the summer of 2011 lots of moths and butterflies were spotted in the village. One that caused lots of interest was the ghost moth who would appear at dusk and hover over the beck.

This inspired us to make this runner. It was made during the school holidays when lots of children and grandchildren were free to help out. The brightly coloured butterflies and moths were created and the lovely detail that can be seen was achieved by needle felting (adults only).

Butterflies and moths include cabbage white, ghost moth, tortoiseshell, red admiral, dragonflies and blue moth. Some of the more colourful ones have yet to be discovered but can be found in our imagination.
