Pilates – or Not.
However well-organised a WI committee is there are occasions when things don’t quite go right. The Asby WI August meeting was a case in point when the speaker failed to materialise even though she had been spoken to a few days before! Our ever resourceful Treasurer came prepared with some quizzes to help along what, in the event, became a social/fun evening. We should have been hearing about Pilates but instead racked our brains over ‘Diddle in the middle’ and a harder quiz based on Hobbies. Gwen Hadrill and Pat Bevan were the winners.
The business part of the evening discussed coming events advertised in the Federation News Sheet and reminded members that a visit to the Bowes Museum to see the special V&A Exhibition of Shoes was planned for Wednesday 21 September. Transport to be arranged at the next meeting.
Monday 15 August is the next Knit & Natter Group (2pm at 9 Riverside View). Participants don’t have to knit or natter – just come/bring another craft to do. On this particular occasion Ann Johnson was offering to unlock the mysteries of crochet for anyone interested..
The competition for the evening was ‘a Keep Fit slogan’ – linking with the expected speaker’s topic. June Sowerby was the winner with a very apt rhyme; Pat Bevan second. Valerie Cooper won the raffle prize and Dorothy Hayton with Carol Smith were the hostesses.
